I’m back in Portugal after a busy couple of weeks on the road for the Portugal Golden Visa USA Tour.
I thought I’d share a quick update and a few photos before getting back to the important stuff. As always, I hope you find it an interesting read – please don’t hesitate to ask if any questions and I’ll always respond as soon as possible.
Santa Barbara and LA sold out before I even arrived, and the Move Abroad Con in San Diego was something else. In total I visited six cities, covered thousands of miles, and had more conversations about Portugal than I can count.
San Francisco – Where the Tour Kicked Off
We flew into San Francisco to kick off. Golden Gate Bridge, sea lions at Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz – all very eerie and locked Max up for the day (only kidding). We even got to meet the last living prisoner from Alcatraz before it closed 🙂

Big Sur and the California Coast
We jumped in a self-driving car for the first time (didn’t even know they existed yet?!) and took an open top bus around the city before heading south in a big Ford Expedition down the Big Sur. Stayed a night in Monterey, a stop at Carmel-by-the-Sea, and enjoyed some of incredible views of the coast. It was also Max’s first ever road trip – he loved it!

From there it was Santa Barbara, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica Pier, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame before arriving in San Diego for the main event.
Move Abroad Con – San Diego
Over 600 Americans looking to relocate abroad, all under one roof. I was first up on the Saturday morning covering everything to do with Portugal’s Golden Visa. Usually, I can only see my face on screen during my webinars, so to actually be in the room with everyone, seeing the questions come in live was great – not a spare seat in the house!

There was a queue of people booking appointments before I’d even finished the presentation. 90% of attendees had Portugal on their “Possible countries” list – so a full house listening in and lots of questions over the weekend.
Padres vs Cardinals
After the conference we caught the Padres versus the Cardinals – first ever baseball game (yes, really). Verdict – it’s a bit like cricket, but with better snacks and fireworks!

Washington DC – The Final Stop
We flew to Washington DC for the last event – coupled with a chance to see the Capitol Building, the Lincoln Memorial, and the White House. Donald Trump was apparently in China at the time, so that conversation will have to wait.

All in all – a brilliant trip, really enjoyed presenting in person, and something that will very likely be happening again later this year. Initial plans are to head to the East Coast in Q3/Q4 2026, but more detail to follow soon.
For Those Who Couldn’t Make the US Dates – Join Me on Zoom This Thursday
A lot has changed whilst I was away and the questions are coming in thick and fast. The three I’m being asked most right now:
How do the new citizenship laws affect the Golden Visa program?
What is the difference between permanent residency and citizenship?
How does Portugal compare to other EU programs now?
I’m hosting a live virtual session this Thursday 28th May at 5PM Lisbon time – the same format as always. A full live presentation covering everything you need to know about Portugal’s Golden Visa in 2026, with plenty of time for your questions at the end.
It’s completely free to attend. I’d love to see you there – you may click below for full details.
As always, I hope my update is well received and if you have a specific question ahead of Thursday just reply or get in touch and I’ll do my best to address it on the day.
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
